GATES, N.Y. (WHEC) — Family members of Richard Sciascia, the man who was killed during an attempted carjacking last month gathered at his memorial site on Buell Road Friday afternoon.

The rainy weather didn't stop family members from visiting the site where they lost a loved one in Gates.

They picked up trash and replaced it with more signs, flowers and stuffed animals.

The group says how touched they are that other community members have stopped by the memorial site to pay their respects.

"This is the one month anniversary of my stepfather's passing we've noticed a lot of beautiful things placed by his memorial and we are very happy and what have you that people have come out to show love for our family," Emily Austin said.

Two 16-year-olds, Edgar Tolentino and Anthony Jacobs are in custody and have been charged with Sciascia's murder.
