ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Airport firefighters responded to a plane that is in the grass off of the runway Friday morning.
According to the Rochester Airport Firefighters Association, firefighters were on the ground with the 737 DHL cargo plane just off of runway 22 just after 9 a.m.
Greater Rochester International Airport Director Andrew Moore said it rolled off the runway as it was preparing to take off.
Officials said that the plane may have experienced a mechanical issue before veering off of the runway.
As it was not a commercial plane, there were only two pilots on board, according to Moore.
There were no injuries.
Both runways are temporarily closed and crews are working to move the aircraft to reopen the airfield as soon as possible.
Moore advises passengers who are flying in the next few hours should check the status of their flight.
