ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — This Valentine's Day, you not only have to worry about keeping you and your loved ones warm, but also your flowers.
Flower bouquets are a popular gift this holiday, but the bitter cold can ruin them.
We spoke with Jennifer Ralph, the owner of a local flower shop, Wisteria Flowers & Gifts on Culver Road, about what you can do to keep your flowers fresh.
"To prevent flowers from freezing it should be put into a warm car, don't leave them outside or in your car overnight,” Ralph said. “When you pick it up move it into a warm spot just to prevent from freezing because flowers will freeze instantly in this extreme weather."
The flower shop wraps their arrangements in extra-heavy cellophane lined with tissue to help keep the cold out.
