ROCHESTER,  N.Y. (WHEC) — A Child Victims Act lawsuit accuses a former Gates Chili High School teacher and coach of sexually abusing a female student.

The lawsuit, which was filed on Sept. 25, names the Gates Chili School District, the Gates Chili Board of Education, and Gates Chili High School as defendants.

According to the lawsuit, Steven Wilson, a former Gates Chili teacher and coach, sexually abused a 16-year-old student numerous times in 1991.

The lawsuit claims Wilson used his position as both a teacher and coach to sexually abuse the plaintiff.

The alleged abuse happened at Gates Chili High School and other locations including Wilson's office, his special education classroom, and his home. The lawsuit also claims the abuse took place during school hours and between school and practice.

Officials with the Gates Chili Central District said they "can’t comment on pending litigation."
