Former Greece police chief Forsythe to be arraigned on DWI, other charges

GREECE, N.Y. (WHEC) — Former Greece Police Department Chief Drew Forsythe is scheduled to be arraigned in court Thursday on drunk driving and leaving the scene of crash charges.

Monroe County prosecutors say the former chief had six drinks at a hotel bar before he got behind the wheel and crashed back on Oct.20
Forsythe resigned from his position on Oct. 25, just two days after he was placed on administrative leave over the crash of his official vehicle on I-390. GPD initially said Forsythe swerved to avoid a deer and crashed into a guardrail along I-390. The department says the former chief couldn’t radio in at the time so he drove his damaged SUV away from the scene.
The office began investigating Forsythe at the request of the department. The day he resigned, the car he was driving was taken to the Monroe County Crime Lab in Rochester for further investigation.
The criminal charges were announced by Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley on Nov.8.
Forsythe is scheduled to appear in Greece Town Court around 2 p.m.
