ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Genesee Brew House is more than just beer. The company recently invested about $20 million in equipment and is launching a campaign featuring its employees. It's looking to add more people. Brewery leaders say hiring amid COVID has been hard.

The campaign, "Made For The Trade", features employees behind the beer. The Genesee Brew House wants to hire you! While showcasing the investments made over the last few years, the brewhouse said recruitment in trade has been a challenge.

"We really want to make sure we're keeping them at the center of everything we do," said Brand Director Jaime Polislto.

Employees are saying "cheers" to the celebration of their hard work and dedication.

"There is a lot of multi-generational people in the workforce for decades back so there is a family aspect here," said Electrical Engineer John Nolan.

Nolan showed us numbers and diagrams on the computer screens he looks at every day. Well, that makes your beer possible. It's what Nolan has been doing for the company for almost a decade.

"The biggest thing that keeps me here is all the investments we've been doing, over the last five years we've had millions of dollars in new product, just shows me that the company is moving in the right direction," Nolan added.

That's just one of the many positions the brewery is looking for. But, finding people who want a career in the trades, is slim pickings.

"A lot of emphasis is put on college, but we want to make sure that people know trades are a viable option as well, it takes a village to get beer to your table," Polislto added.

Not sure what you like to do or how to do it? Well, that's covered. Part of the investment is training. The brewhouse said it will be expanding relationships with organizations to help.

"There is only so many breweries around, so a lot of the people we're bringing in don't have it, and so we have to do a lot more training," Nolan added.

The brewhouse said the campaign surfaced because hiring people in the trade business is tough. It's hard on businesses across the board. It says since the last large investment of $50 million in 2018, it was able to increase employment by almost 15%.
