ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — This week we received a Good Question about New York’s quarantine orders.

The viewer asked: "Last Friday I was in Maryland which was on the list so when I returned I started my two weeks quarantine on Saturday but then Maryland was removed from the list. Can I come out of quarantine or do I need to stay in?"

This is something that many people may be running into.

According to state guidelines, once you start your quarantine, you have to finish the 14 days, regardless if your state is considered a hot spot after you get back.

As the list updates every Tuesday, you may want to adjust your travel plans week to week.

While New York is upholding its travel quarantine, federal officials will no longer require it.

The CDC has updated its guidelines, urging people to follow "state, territorial, tribal and local recommendations or requirements after travel."

Previously, those returning from areas with a high transmission rate or from overseas were recommended to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Again, Gov. Andrew Cuomo isn’t changing the rules in New York, the state travel advisory is still in effect.
