ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Here’s a Good Question about getting your vaccine.

This one focuses on the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, which is one of the main sites for the vaccine rollout locally where people with appointments have been getting shots.

A viewer named Steve wanted to know something about how this works: Do people have to pay for parking downtown if they have an appointment? Is parking waived due to the venue being picked up by Monroe County?

Good questions.

Parking is free for people getting vaccinated downtown, as long as they are using the South Avenue parking garage. The other important piece of this: you must get your parking pass validated, which happens when you get your shot.

Since fees are getting waived for people with appointments, News10NBC’s Brennan Somers asked Monroe County officials if they are on the hook for picking up the tab. They say no, as it’s a partnership with the county and city to clear any unnecessary hurdles to get a vaccine.
