ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We’ve received some Good Questions about traffic problems in the suburbs.

What’s going on with the lift bridge in Fairport? Have there been any delays due to COVID?

Those are good questions considering the historic bridge, which cuts right through the middle of the village, has been shutoff for drivers, school buses and pedestrians for nearly a year now.

It’s part of a $16 million project to revamp the 105-year-old bridge. There are plenty of detours in place to get around.

The good news? Everything is still on schedule.

NYSDOT tells News10NBC’s Brennan Somers it is on pace to reopen the bridge in late November. Contractors are working six days a week in two shifts to meet all the deadlines.

There’s also a sister project happening in Spencerport on the Union Street Bridge. No delays have been reported there either and that work should also wrap up come November.
