PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — Heavy rain caused two East Rochester men to be thrown from their raft in Irondequoit Creek on Saturday afternoon.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says that deputies responded to Linear Park in Penfield shortly before 5 p.m. for reports that two men had been swept underwater. Upon arrival, the deputies found that two 23-year-olds from East Rochester had been in a raft upstream when the day's heavy rains caused rough waters that threw them from the raft.
The two men were able to get themselves safely to shore a few hundred feet from where they went under. Neither had any injuries.
Penfield Fire aided in the operation.
