ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A substance use disorder mobile treatment unit is ready to hit the road.
The goal is to offer support to people who would not normally get treatment due to stigma or aren't able to go to areas where treatment is available.
This mobile unit is the product of two grants Huther Doyle received from the Office of Addiction Services.
Right now it's focused on the western part of Monroe County, but the plan is to eventually support the whole county.
"We know that this mobile unit will provide services and treatment to those when they are ready. We are developing relationships and trust amongst our community partners," Chair Melissa Wendland said.
Huther Doyle Memorial Institute is working with Monroe County, New York State and community leaders on this effort.
