ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester mother accused of killing her three-month-old daughter pleaded not guilty Thursday morning.

Mabel Enid Rosado-Delgado, 38, appeared virtually in court to face her second-degree murder charge

Police announced her arrest Wednesday after they say she drove three-month-old Karen Victoria Castro-Rosado to Rochester General Hospital on Sunday, June 13, with what appeared to be severe trauma and appeared to be deceased when she was brought in.

She was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after she was brought in. The next day, the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide due to blunt force trauma.

According to the criminal complaint, the baby suffered a serious skull fracture and bruising, and that Rosado-Delgado subjected her to physical abuse by blunt force in their apartment on Eastman Avenue in Rochester.

Through a Spanish interpreter, Rosado-Delgado told a judge "I didn't do it."

The Rochester Police Department's Special Victims Unit is handling the investigation. The investigator who filed the court documents says the criminal complaint is based on conversations with Rosado-Delgado as well as "witnesses who provided information about the defendant being responsible."

Prosecutors say they "look forward" to fighting for justice for the baby.

"Anytime we have allegations of child abuse, especially that are this heinous, and ultimately led to the child’s death, I am outraged," prosecutor Hillary Levitt said. "I’m angry, my office is angry, and really, frankly the community at large, should be angry. I do look forward to seeking justice for this infant, and ultimately holding the person responsible."

Rosado-Delgado is being held without bail. A court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m.
