ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Irondequoit Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office were awarded grants from the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services' School Violence Prevention Program.
IPD is receiving $206,136 and the WCSO is receiving $324,917 as a part of an effort to improve school safety. Nationally, $50 million in school safety funding was awarded to law enforcement agencies and school districts.
The Hamburg Central School District also received $148,406.
