ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (WHEC) — UFC champion Jon 'Bones' Jones was arrested early Thursday morning in Albuquerque, New Mexico on DUI and weapons charges.
NBC affiliate KOB4 in Albuquerque reports that the Rochester-born fighter was arrested around 1 a.m. local time on Thursday. A criminal complaint says that officers had responded to the area of 3rd Street and Central in Albuquerque after hearing gunshots, where they found Jones in a parked vehicle. After noticing signs that Jones may have been drinking, police gave him a breathalyzer test that showed he was at least twice above the legal limit.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a black handgun and a half-empty bottle of wine in the vehicle.
Jones now faces charges of aggravated DWI, negligent use of a deadly weapon, and possession of an open container. This is Jones' second DUI.
