ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A judge has denied a request from Dawn Nguyen to be released early from prison.

Nguyen is serving an eight-year sentence in West Virginia for selling guns to the man who ambushed and killed two firefighters in West Webster on Christmas Eve in 2012.

Nguyen petitioned the court for compassionate release, saying she was at risk of contracting the coronavirus while in prison.

In his decision, the judge ruled Nguyen failed to substantiate that she suffers from any condition that places her at higher risk.

She's due to be released in July 2021.
