ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The man accused of attacking a Rochester Police Officer was back in court Friday.
Experts are still trying to determine whether or not Keith Williams is competent to stand trial.
On Friday, a judge heard testimony from three doctors to determine whether or not Williams can stand trial.
Williams’s attorney says a psychiatric defense will be used at trial in April.
"We have a legitimate concern that Mr. Williams is not able to understand, well what's going on, more importantly, not able to effectively aid in his defense," Public Defender Jean Caputo said.
"If he's found competent then we will proceed from there, then we'll have to have additional hearings on the matter and schedule for trial," Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley said.
Williams is charged with attempted aggravated murder and aggravated assault of a police officer. His trial is scheduled for April 6.
