(WHEC) — Lake Ontario outflows will continue to deviate from plan 2014 through March 31.
The International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board agreed to extend the elevated outflows until the beginning of the 2020 navigation season on April 1.
On Thursday, Monroe County Assemblyman Mark Johns (R) spoke about the high water levels despite the record outflows.
"We need to get the lake down to about 242 feet above sea level, when right now it's 245/246,” Johns said. “If it's at around 242/243... comes up five feet you're at 247/248. If you're at 245 or 246 and it comes up five feet you're at 250/251 that's a real problem."
The Towns of Greece and Webster both held water level informational meetings Thursday night.
