ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — U.S. Sen. Maj. Leader Chuck Schumer Tuesday joined healthcare workers for a rally to get more funding for care in the comfort of patients' homes.

They want to see the Senate pass the "Better Care Better Jobs Act", which would make states eligible for a 10% bump in Medicaid funding for home and community-based services.

Those services provide care to patients who need help with everyday activities but who are not living in a facility.

"It not only helps the person you're taking care of, it helps their whole family. What a relief it is to a child, a son or a daughter, to know their mom and dad are getting decent care and decent health," Schumer said.

The bill would also help fund local Medicaid and Medicare services so they can help more people receive benefits form those programs.
