ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Just what the headline said. The Genesee Brew House's Keg Tree is coming back after a year away, but organizers say the tradition will be a bit different this year.

The 27-foot "tree" will be officially lit up starting Dec.6, but instead of a formal lighting ceremony, the brewery will host a nearly two-week-long series called the "12 Days of Keg Tree."  The 12-day event lineup will feature nightly tree lightings and will include food specials, benefits to local charities, music, and much more.

The tree is yes, made up of kegs, about 532 of them. In the spirit of beer, the brewery will be launching its "Keg Tree Ale" on the day of the first lighting.

Like many events, the lighting was canceled in 2020, instead, the brewery encouraged people to make their own trees at home.

Organizers said the 12-day split will allow the brewery to be COVID-safe.
