ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — In honor of October being "Domestic Violence Prevention" Month, Vertus High School, an all-boys school, is taking a stand against domestic violence.

On Saturday, the school hosted a bake sale to raise funds for Willow Domestic Violence Center. Willow Center has provided services for the Greater Rochester community for over 40 years. Each year, the organization reaches more than 7,000 people in Monroe County.

Vertus staff, students and families will sell baked goods donated by numerous local organizations including Savoia Pastry Shoppe, Balsam Bagels, Chef’s Catering and Voula’s Greek Sweets.

Part of Vertus' Creed reads: We respect and care for women. The Vertus creed is recited by students every day.

In addition to its Creed, Vertus' mission is to prepare men of character by focusing on four pillars: strong relationships, personalized year-round academics, character education and career preparation.
