ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Although much of the looting and rioting on Saturday took place in downtown Rochester, some took place in the outskirts and suburbs.

On North Goodman Street's Goodman Plaza, some stores such as Broadway Outlet were looted almost completely, emptied of merchandise. In some areas, even ATMs were pulled out of buildings. Reportedly, police would chase off looters in the area, only for looters to return once the police left.

While not at the same level seen in the city, looting was also reported in Rochester's suburbs.

At the Mall of Greece Ridge, both entrances stood blocked off by police, including an armored vehicle. Greece Police Chief Patrick Phelan said groups of people were attempting to loot the area, but his officers kept everything under control. Phelan asked that everyone respect the curfew and remain at home.

A similar scenario took place in Irondequoit. There were reports of looting on East Ridge Road, and News10NBC's crew found a window of one business smashed. Business owners were urged to close for their own safety.
