ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man has died from his injuries after a shooting on North Clinton Avenue Monday afternoon.

Police say the call for a person shot came in at around 1:45 p.m. Officers say they found a man who had been shot at least once in the upper body when they arrived on the scene. The man was taken to URMC with life-threatening injuries and died shortly after.

Investigators say they're still working to identify the man.

Police have the road blocked off between Scantom Street and Kappel Place.

This is the 13th homicide in Rochester of 2021.

Though the other two homicides were in December 2020, it's the third homicide in the area in just four months.

The first was on Dec. 11, 2020. The second was just a few weeks later, on Dec. 29, 2020. At the same time as that incident, a large fight was going on up the street.

Rochester police say they've increased patrols in the area.

"Shootings are never an acceptable part," Capt. Greg Bello said. "Especially on Clinton Avenue here, with the increased development that we have around here, so this has been a focus point for us. We've increased patrols and community engagement so this is a disheartening moment for us."

Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or the Major Crimes Unit at 585-428-7616, or email MajorCrimes@cityofrochester.gov.
