ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office Tuesday announced an arrest in the string of catalytic converter thefts across the area.

Yamzen Colon, 39, of Rochester, is facing several charges, including grand larceny and auto stripping.

Investigators say he was arrested during an undercover sting on Monday when they spotted Colon near Pixley Industrial Park in Gates.

A deputy was able to get close and heard the sound of power tools coming from some parked cars. The deputy says he then saw Colon walking away with what appeared to be catalytic converters.

Colon was arraigned and released.

Last week 28-year-old Michael Hastings was charged for his role in the crimes.

The sheriff's office says more charges may be coming.
