MCSO releases data on mental health calls and FIT team use

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has responded to 47 mental health incidents since April 7. 

Thursday night it posted the most recent data to social media.

The sheriff's office says of the 47 incidents, 11 involved intoxication or drug use. 

Thirty-six people were in an immediate mental health crisis and the Forensic Intervention Team was called 16 times.

The team now responds 24 hours a day, seven days a week to calls from law enforcement who need help in the field with people who are in a mental crisis.
