ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —More of Rochester's museums and cultural locations reopened on Saturday for the first time since their pandemic-caused shutdowns.
The Memorial Art Gallery, for example, reopened at 11 a.m.
Although the gallery is now open, the number of guests allowed inside is being limited. In addition, everyone will be required to wear masks, and there will be increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols.
Elsewhere, the Rochester Museum and Science Center also opened its doors on Saturday.
The museum has added hand sanitizing stations, social distancing signs, and floor markings throughout the building. While they will also be limiting capacity, officials there say they're excited to give families a place to go.
"We're excited for them to have a safe place," says Heidi Luizzi, Director of Member and Visitor Services at RMSC. "A home away from home so to speak, and you know that's awesome. We've been doing a lot of virtual things, but in-person is really what we're so pleased about."
Doors opened at 9:30 a.m. Some exhibits that require touch still remain closed, however, and visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online ahead of time.
