WEBSTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s SCUBA Unit recovered a body from Irondequoit Bay after searching for a missing swimmer.
The 49-year-old man disappeared under the water just after 2 p.m. on Sunday with three other swimmers. That same day, deputies say they recovered his body from the Irondequoit Bay at 8 p.m.
“Out of respect for the family, MCSO refrained from announcing the recovery last evening due to next of kin traveling from outside the Rochester area,” deputies said.
The victim’s name will not be released until they are positively identified by the medical examiner.
