ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The four Democratic Legislature members who did not vote to remove Vince Felder as minority leader Tuesday are working to form a new caucus.
They announced new legislation Wednesday that would create the Black and Asian Democratic Caucus.
They claim fellow Democratic legislators aren't doing enough to address the inequalities affecting people of color.
They say urban communities are not the priority.
"In many ways, this caucus has made us feel like we were in an abusive relationship and the first thing you tell someone in an abusive relationship is to get out of that relationship...we've woken up and we will no longer be taken for granted." Monroe County Legislator Ernest Flagler (D) said.
The legislators did not address the attempted removal of Felder at their press conference Wednesday.
