ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Monroe County is offering financial help for small businesses in suburban communities.

The forgivable loans can provide up to $25,000 in assistance for day-to-day expenses, rent or mortgage payments and utilities.

The program is funded by the government’s Community Development Block Grant Program and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Loans are not available to businesses in the City of Rochester, or the towns of Greece and Irondequoit because those municipalities receive direct funding and have their own programs.

Funding is limited and will be supplied on a first-come, first-served basis.

Businesses must have fewer than 50 full-time equivalent employees, be in good standing with the county, state and federal governments, have been established prior to March 27, 2020, and must present a recovery plan.
