ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — More than $17 million has been awarded to more than 140 businesses in New York as part of the Lake Ontario Business Resiliency Program.
The funds are supposed to help fix damage caused by Lake Ontario flooding in 2017 and 2019, and build new protections against future flooding.
Approved projects included elevating or moving buildings and fueling facilities, converting to floating docks, strengthening existing docks and creating plant buffers along the waterfront.
Most private businesses, homeowners' associations, certain non-profits and farms were all eligible to apply.
