Morelle calling on TikTok to remove ‘dangerous content’ amid destructive school challenges

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rep. Joe Morelle (D, NY-25) is taking a stand against TikTok.

He’s calling on the social media app to remove dangerous content, especially videos encouraging kids to slap their teachers in the latest “Slap a Teacher” challenge, which drew preemptive warnings from the Churchville-Chili School District as well as others across the country.

Last month, the “Devious Licks” TikTok challenge, where students stole various objects from their schools, often vandalizing the buildings in the process, also led to problems in area school districts, including Greece, Penfield and East Irondequoit.
