ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Nick Tahou's, the home of the garbage plate, is closed until Tuesday after an overnight break-in.
According to Nick Tahou Hots, the restaurant on West Main Street was broken into around 12:40 a.m. Sunday by an unknown male.
The glass on the restaurant's back door was completely shattered during the break-in.
Owner Alex Tahou said they're looking at hundreds of dollars worth of damage, and this is not the first time the restaurant has had to go through something like this.
"I think we've had like three in the past year and a half, but it's usually once a year maybe. It's just not fun. It's 400 bucks every time, you know?" Tahou said. "The guy got in, of course, they came with the dogs. Nobody was inside by that time, we watched the guy, he was maybe two minutes inside total. He didn't take anything, we don't leave anything in there, the only thing he could've got was a good lunch for tomorrow."
Nick Tahou's will be closed until Tuesday while they make repairs.
Back in March, News10NBC reported that the iconic restaurant was listed for sale due to the eatery falling on hard times.
Nick Tahou's thanked the Rochester Police Department and their police dogs for making sure the building was cleared and safe.
Anyone who know anything about the break-in is asked to call the Rochester Police Department.
