ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A 9-year-old boy died in a motorbike crash in Rochester on Sunday.
The Rochester Police Department and the Rochester Police Locust Club say that officers responded to Norton Street around 3:30 p.m. where they found the city resident injured after a motor vehicle crash. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
At the scene, RPD Captain Frank Umbrino said that the 9-year-old was on the bike with his father, and somehow they hit something that caused the bike to flip over. Umbrino says both of them were not wearing helmets.
The father is now recovering in the hospital. He hasn't been identified at this time
Kilmar Street between Norton Street and LaFrois is currently blocked off for the investigation and is expected to be closed for most of the evening.
