FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Fairport Lift Bridge’s reopening was delayed again.
The bridge was supposed to reopen in February after it missed its original reopening goal of November because of supply chain issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, the New York State Department of Transportation is saying the parts that were delayed because of the pandemic did not meet the necessary testing standards. The parts need to be remade, which will cause further delay.
The DOT says it now expects the bridge to reopen at the end of April.
The project began in September of 2019.
