PEMBROKE, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two people from the Rochester area were arrested after a chase on the Thruway, according to the New York State Police.
The incident happened on Monday at around 11:15 p.m. Troopers say they attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver refused to pull over.
While attempting to take the Depew exit, the driver failed to negotiate the turn, and left the road according to police.
Troopers say the driver and passenger left the car and tried to run. After a short foot chase and the help of an Erie County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit, the driver and passenger were arrested.
Troopers say the passenger was John T. Harmon, 55, of Rochester. Harmon was turned over to the Erie County Holding Center on an active arrest warrant for parole violations.
Troopers say the driver was Theresa A. Gillette, 44, of East Rochester. According to Troopers, Gillette had a non-driver ID only which had 15 suspensions and had multiple warrants for her arrest out of Monroe County.
She was charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officers in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. She was also issued traffic tickets and appearance tickets for the Town of Cheektowaga Court on Oct. 9. Troopers turned her over to the Rochester Police Department for multiple outstanding warrants.
