PARMA, N.Y. (WHEC) — A federal grand jury has indicted a 42-year-old music teacher on 74 counts related to child pornography.

Philip M. Close, of Rochester, was the owner of the Close School of Music on West Ridge Road in Parma. He was arrested last December after a camera was found in one of the bathrooms of the music school.

He was originally charged with unlawful surveillance but was later charged with production of child pornography as well.

Thursday the Western District of New York announced federal charges of 61 counts of production of child pornography, one for each alleged victim, and 13 counts of possession of material containing child pornography involving prepubescent minors.

Close is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 14, 2020, at 9:30 a.m.

If convicted, Close faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, a maximum of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
