ROCHESTER, NY (WHEC) — Rochester Police faced off against Monroe County deputies in a game of quickball at the Rochester Community Sports Complex.

Faith leaders and members of the RIT baseball team also came out to play.

The goal is to help build stronger relations between law enforcement, religious organizations and the community.

"Historically we’ve found that activities between law enforcement and communities always bridge the gap. It creates an open dialogue for law enforcement and the community. And I honestly feel that, if at no other time in the history of the Rochester Pollice Department and other communities, we actually need these events to take place," said Moses Robinson, a community liaison for the Rochester Police Department.

Organizers of the event hope to keep events like this going into the fall and will challenge other local police departments to come out and play.
