Reynolds is a Rochester native and graduate of the University of Rochester. The PAB says he worked for President Obama crafting communications strategies at the White House.

Most recently, Reynolds taught law at Yale University.

As executive director, Reynolds will come up with training for members and staff, do community outreach, and develop a process for complaints against police.

"This board's vision is to fundamentally reimagine public safety, not seek, my job is to execute this vision," he says. "The board will redefine what public safety means by listening to all of Rochester's people."

Reynolds' first day on the job will be next Monday.
