Rochester Police: Victim identified as 31-year-old male resident of Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police say they have identified the victim from a shooting early Sunday morning.

David Yaw, 31,  from Rochester has been named as the victim.

Police were called to Dewey Avenue and Knickerbocker for the report of a man shot around 6:30 a.m.

When officers arrived on scene they found a man in his 30’s suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say it appears the victim was shot near the corner and collapsed a short distance away. 

There are no suspects in custody. 

Rochester Police say Knickerbocker Avenue is still shut down and will be for several hours.
