GREECE, N.Y. (WHEC)— A man is in critical condition after a Wednesday night shooting at an apartment complex in Greece.

Greece Police Deputy Chief Casey Voelkl said officers went to the scene of a shots fired call at the Greece Common Apartments in the area of Milford Street around 11:45 p.m.

When officers got to the scene, he says they found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to the upper body.  He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Police say the man was found in a car, and it's believed he was not the only one inside. They do not believe he lived in the complex.

Voelkl said multiple shots were fired, with bullets hitting cars, and surrounding buildings. Officers could be seen inspecting a shattered window on a third-floor apartment, as well as several evidence markers on the lawn in front of the unit.

He said it's not clear why the man was at the complex.

Nobody else was hurt, and Voelkl said no arrests have been made.

Police say the area will remain shut down for some time.
