HILTON, N.Y. (WHEC)— Monroe County deputies say two schools in the Hilton School District on under lockout protocols Monday morning following a series of larcenies and break-ins nearby, and possible suspects still on the run.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the lockout applies to both Village Elementary School and Merton Williams Middle School.

Deputies initially went to the area of Collamer Road and Summertime Trail to investigate "multiple" burglary and larceny calls. They say at least five suspects are in custody, but there may be more that have not been caught.

During the early part of the morning, deputies believed a suspect was possibly on a Hilton Central School District bus. As a result, MSCO worked with the district to make sure kids stayed on the buses while the investigation moved forward. Deputies did not find a suspect, and there was determined to be no threat. Students were then allowed to get off the buses and get to school.

At one point, deputies could be seen near a home around the area of Collamer Road and Old Hojack Lane. The intersection is less than a mile from both the schools. MSCO told reporters one of the suspects was bit by a K-9 dog at the intersection.

An age range was not given for the suspects, and deputies did not say what their ties are to Hilton, if any.
