ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man is dead after a hit-and-run near Rochester's Inner Loop.
Officers responded to the scene around 3 a.m. Monday for the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Police found the man, unresponsive in the middle of North Union Street near Weld Street.
Witnesses told police the victim may have been lying in the street when he was struck, and it's possible the driver didn't realize they hit someone.
Police say the preliminary investigation showed there was no foul play before the incident.
The man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he later died. Rochester Police identified him as 33-year-old, D-Markos Trammell of Rochester.
Police say the vehicle fled before they arrived on scene, and investigators are still searching for the driver.
