ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man is injured after a shooting near a vigil on Weld Street near Lays Alley Thursday afternoon.

It happened shortly after 2 p.m. Police say an officer was already on the scene monitoring the vigil when they heard gunshots. The officer began checking for possible suspects and victims and found a 33-year-old man who had been shot in the upper body.

He was taken to URMC by AMR with what police say are non-life-threatening injuries.

More than a dozen cars and several police patrol cars were on the scene.

News10NBC's crew at the scene reported seeing a gun by a car.

Police say they have no suspects in custody and are asking anyone with information to call 911.
