ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester woman is facing murder charges after police say her baby died from severe blunt-force injuries, inflicted by her.

It all started Sunday at around 11:15 a.m. when Mabel Enid Rosado-Delgado, 38, drove her 3-month-old daughter, Karen Victoria Castro-Rosado, to Rochester General Hospital.

Police say the baby has suffered severe trauma and appeared to be deceased when she was brought in. Hospital staff attempted life-saving measures, and the baby was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after she was brought in.

On Monday, the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide due to blunt force trauma.

The Rochester Police Department’s Special Victims Unit took the lead on the case immediately, and after an investigation, arrested Rosado-Delgado and charged her with second degree murder.

She is accused of inflicting the injuries that caused her daughter’s death at an Eastman Avenue home.

Rosado-Delgado is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
