ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC ) — Police say a woman is dead and three others were hurt after a car and ambulance crash in Rochester Thursday morning.

The crash happened at Central Park and North Goodman Street around 1:30 a.m.

Police say the AMR ambulance was responding to a call at the time when the car failed to yield, passed a flashing red traffic signal and crashed into the ambulance. Both vehicles had heavy front-end damage. Three people were in the other car at the time, including the woman who died, who police have identified as 23-year-old Autumn Johnson.

The two AMR workers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries but have since been discharged. The front seat passenger of the car, a 23-year-old, is still in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, 19-year-old Jamila Evans was charged with driving while intoxicated and second degree vehicular manslaughter, as well as several vehicle and traffic infractions. She was taken into custody after she was discharged from the hospital, where she was being treated for injuries she sustained during the crash.

Evans is scheduled to be arraigned in Rochester City Court on Friday morning.
