Last spring News10NBC told you about the Progress In Action initiative -- a project from Five Star Bank designed to empower economically vulnerable neighborhoods in the city.
Now, that inititive is paying off in the form of Ring doorbells for city residents. Ring doorbells have a camera feature which allows the user to see activity happening outside their front door. Over the past couple weeks, the goal was to install more than 125 of doorbell devices in homes to improve safety and security in the city's Northeast neighborhood.
Emma Morrison is the President of the Unity North East Block Club Association, and she talked with News10NBC about the impact this new security feature will have on residents in the neighborhood. Although the $12,500 grant was awarded to UNEBCA in March, installation of the doorbells was delayed due to the panedmic.
The project is a collaborative effort between Five Star Bank and UNEBCA, established in partnership with the United Way and the Rochester Area Community Foundation.
