ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — One of the initiatives that came out of last week's conversation on violence in the Rochester City School District will begin training next week.

Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small talked about the group during her weekly video message released Friday.

The community action initiative event was on the Franklin High School campus where teachers have recently reported being attacked.

"Our Fathers Initiating Restorative Engagement, or FIRE group will be trained next week and ready to greet scholars at schools later this month," Myers-Small said. "At next Thursday's board meeting I will present more information on the results of this initiative."

On Tuesday the school board voted to authorize the presence of Rochester Police officers outside the city's 11 high schools during arrival and dismissal times following an increase in violence in and around city schools and union pleas to protect employees.
