ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester City School District’s Superintendent Terry Dade proposed more layoffs in order to balance the budget for next school year.
Slides from Dade’s presentation for Thursday night’s school board meeting outline the situation.
The district is still seeking $35 million for this school year, and is facing a $60 million budget gap for the 2020-21 school year.
Dade’s presentation proposes a staff reduction of 236 total positions, 192 of which are teachers.
The district has already laid off more than 100 teachers.
