ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester Institute of Technology will become the first university in Western New York, and the fifth in the state to receive the “Peace Corps Prep” designation.

That means RIT students can take classes that will better prepare them for service in the Peace Corps after graduation.

The university is planning a kick-off event for students to get more information Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.

Classes for the certification include foreign language, culture and history.
