HILTON, N.Y. (WHEC) — Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies arrested four people for robbing a woman who says she was attacked because she wore a respirator mask in a store.
Deputies responded last Monday just before 7 p.m. to the Family Dollar on South Avenue in Hilton.
The victim told deputies that a group of people had confronted her because she was inside the store wearing a respirator mask. The victim said that the group accused her of having coronavirus.
When she left the store, the victim said that multiple people in the group punched her in the face, and that her wallet and keys were stolen.
The suspects then took off in a car.
Ogden Police helped catch them. They were pulled over and arrested at Lyell Road and Manitou Road.
Four suspects face charges in the case. Rocco Gingello, 18, of Gates, Alexis Gingello, 19, of Gates and Taya O'Connor, 18, of Gates, are all charged with robbery.
Nicholas Henderson, 19, of Greece faces robbery and weapons charges, and driving citations.
The Sheriff's Office said under the state's new bail law, the four were given appearance tickets and released.
They are due back at Parma Town Court at a later date.
