ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Thanksgiving is about spending time with loved ones, or maybe, a beloved pet. Well, a Rochester family got the chance to do that, but, maybe not in the way they thought.
Because, for 18 hours, yes, 18, the owners of "Flock" the cat spent the day Thursday trying to get the little kitty down from a tree. The family reported waking up Thursday morning to learn the cat was up in three outside their home on High Street, near Goodman Street.
They said they called the Rochester Fire Department throughout the day asking for help, but were told the department doesn't do cat rescues anymore.
So, one of Flock's owners took matters into their own hands and wound up joining the cat by getting stuck up in the same tree. Eventually, firefighters showed up to rescue them both.
"They did rescue the guy-- and we asked them could you please get the cat as well." said neighbor Moseveanna Camp "They came and they saw how high the cat was, they struggled for a little bit but were able to get them thankfully--and I'm very thankful for the fire department that did that."
Thankfully, Flock and everyone made it to the ground safely.
